Care here
Detox, then residential treatment

A small house changes how treatment feels. With six clients at most, staff know each person by name, the house stays quiet enough to rest, and you never move to a new building between detox and residential treatment. Research links calm, green settings with lower stress markers. A peaceful house supports treatment, but it doesn't replace it. Twohig-Bennett & Jones, 2018

Six clients. One house. One team.

A real home in the foothills.

02Is it right for you?

Is a six-bed home the right setting?

An honest answer helps more than a full bed. We'll be honest with you from the first call, even if the right place is somewhere else.

This home may fit if

  • You need to stop alcohol or drugs and can safely detox outside a hospital.
  • You do better in a small, quiet setting than in a large facility.
  • You're ready to share a home with up to five other adults in recovery.
  • You also live with depression, anxiety or trauma, and want both treated together.
  • You want detox and residential treatment in one place, with one team.

Other care first if

  • You need a hospital for withdrawal or another medical problem.
  • You're in a mental health crisis that needs a psychiatric hospital.
  • You're thinking about suicide and have a plan. Call or text 988, or call 911.
  • You've already finished detox somewhere else. An outpatient program will most likely fit better.

In an emergency, call 911.

The right setting is the one that's safe.

We'll help you find it, even if it isn't us.

03Our license, in plain words

A licensed home, not just a house

California treats a licensed home with six or fewer residents as a residential use of property, like a family home. It still has to meet state rules for safety, beds, linens and staffing. Health & Safety Code § 11834.23 · 9 CCR § 10581

Why the pool waits until detox ends

This is our own house rule, for safety. The CDC says alcohol is involved in up to 70% of adult deaths tied to swimming and boating, some medicines raise drowning risk, and so do seizures. During detox, people can have withdrawal symptoms and take medicines that make them drowsy. So the pool stays closed to you until detox is done. CDC: risk factors for drowning

10Paying for treatment

Paying for treatment with a PPO plan

We're an out-of-network provider. We have no contract with any insurance company, but many PPO plans may help pay for detox and residential treatment here. We check your benefits for free and go over them with you by phone.

Most of our clients use their PPO plan's out-of-network benefits. Clients have used plans like these. We are not in network with any of them, and coverage depends on your plan. Self-pay is also available.

  • Aetna
  • Anthem Blue Cross
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • UMR
  • Meritain Health
  • GEHA (federal employees)
  • Out-of-state Blue Cross Blue Shield PPOs
  • Employer-sponsored PPO plans
  • Other PPO plans

Have these ready when you call: your insurance card, front and back. The plan holder's name and birth date. A list of the medicines you take.

Not accepted: HMO plans, Medi-Cal or any other type of insurance. We work with PPO plans only. On Medi-Cal in Los Angeles County? Call the county's substance use helpline at 1-844-804-7500. LA County SAPC

How your insurance check works

  1. Share your PPO details. Call us, or use our insurance form.
  2. We verify your benefits for free. We check your plan's out-of-network benefits with your insurance company.
  3. You get a clear yes or no. We call you back and tell you if we can accept your plan.
  4. If it's a no, you're not on your own. We'll connect you with a trusted program that takes your plan.

We never pay or receive money for referrals.
